I installed CAI last sunday, now it's wednesday and I have "check engine soon" light on steady. I have no other mechanical mods.
The engine rough idles at between 675 - 750 and it feels like it may shut off, but it does not.
Was I supposed to unplug the ECU to have it reset itself?
Can someone enlighten me on what the problem may be?

Double check all of your electrical connections. Sounds like the MAF may not be working properly (bad air/fuel mix).
Which kit did you install? If you did the Injen kit, did you install the heat shield over the exhaust manifold?
A quick visit to your dealer will reveal what the MIL came on for. If you have access to an OBD II scanner, you can get the codes yourself and look most of them up on the internet.
(Or give it to me and I'll tell you what it means).

Like an idiot I was wondering why I needed to install that heatshield when there was a perfectly good stock one there.
Looks like I'll be installing that heatshield asap. Just hope I have not caused any major damage to any components so far. (I've only did 50 miles with the CAI so far.
Thanks for helping me see the light.
Z U later!

Installed heatshield this morning and stopped by dealership to ask about "service engine soon" light. Explained to service guy and he reassured me that as long as I did'nt mess with the engine in any other way the car will be fine. He told me the Z has to do about 181 cycles before the light will go out on it's own.

Hmmm.... I'm not saying your service guy is wrong, but if memory serves me correctly, any time the MIL goes on, you need to acknowledge the stored code and reset the light using an OBD II scanner. (Your service guy has the Nissan Consult II which does this.)
I'd press him to plug the consult in and see what the stored code is. If I were a betting man, I'd say there's no way in **** it'll go out on its own.
The good thing is, that the light usually comes on for things which aren't really earth-shattering. O2 sensors, loose fuel caps, unplugged & replugged air bags, that type of thing.
Keep us posted -- I'm curious to know what the stored code was and whether it was triggered by the installation of the CAI.

Yes the light is mainly concerned with emission items, not actual problems with the engine

I was still worried 'till about 7pm tonight...the light finally went out, the car rides great and the engine is smooth (feels smoother since CAI - but thats probably my imagination). Exhaust note sounds better.

Its an 02 sensor, the dealer has reset it twice and they say it can be triggered only once causing the service engine soon light, I now just wait, it goes off in about two days, or like the "manual" says... to just wait a few "trips". Nevertheless if it comes on and really bothers me, my mechanic just updated his diagnostics a quarter mile down the road. So I won't have to go to the dealer, but what an inconvenience.

Buy an OBDII scanner, and your problems are solved! You can reset the MIL whenever you want, AND record the code that triggered it!
Trigger... makes me think about triggerfish. Makes me miss my salt-water aquarium. Any other marine aquarists here? I miss my clown trigger... :(
