When I first read the review of the new Subaru Forester 2.5XT in this months C&D I thought there was a misprint.
0-60: 5.3 sec
1/4 mi: 13.8 sec
Yeah, it's ugly as sin, but those numbers are insane for a $25k box.
It really makes you think about who you want to challenge at the traffic light.

Yep, that forced induction 2.5 is a beast of an engine. That "you just got beat by a wagon" bumper sticker will be seen on more than just some WRXs now...
I wonder how many they'll sell. One a related note, my drives a normally aspirated Forrester and I just replaced my old daily driver with a Legacy sedan. The Subaru normally aspirated 2.5 is a nice engine for a 4 cylinder. Lots of torque.

I know they are selling at least one...
My wife has always driven Subaru Wagons. I could not convince her that she wnated the new STI. Our new Forester XT should be arrving any day...
Just wait, the 2005 wagons are rumored to offer a sport model with the 2.5 and twin turbos.

The closest we can get is the version of the B4 they have in Gran Turismo 3...
