OK, I've just about exhausted my collection. (I just can't listen to Metallica's "Fuel" enough times. I get this wild-eyed thing every time...)
What's everyone spinning in their CD players? I've just about run out of Metallica, STP, Rush, or Joe Satch and need some new music to put a little Frenzy into my driving.

Thank god for laser jammers. They have been worth the money in Jeremy avoiding tickets.

Metallica has served me well for city driving and stop-n-go traffic, but not my preferred choice for long windy roads. Dark Side of the Moon has been my recent choice for that. Since most of my driving isn't on those canyon roads, I'm looking at getting "Rainbow Rising" by Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow (Dio's gig before Black Sabbath and solo work).
Lately I have been addictively playing Temple of the Dog, which was released in 1990 as a tribute to Mother Love Bone, and featured members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam (before there even was a Pearl Jam). Track #1, "Say Hello 2 Heaven" is the main track I play over and over. Chris Cornell's vocals are incredibly moving. Which brings me to a question to all Soundgarden fans: I do not own any Soundgarden CD's, but if I wanted to get one that features vocal and melodic content similiar to Chris's work on Temple of the Dog,what would you recommend?
Here is a sample of Temple of the Dog (http://entertainment.msn.com/radio/launchradio.aspx?url=%2falbum%2fDefault.aspx%3falb um%3d100876%26song%3d1010645&id=100876&type=albumclip)

I just got the new Janes Addiction and the new 311.
They both rock!
311 has a great beat to every song and JA sounds vintage JA.

I've been listening mostly to Linkin Park and the Red Hot Chili Peppers since I put the mp3 player in, and some classic Van Halen always hits the spot for me too!

The new Jane's Addiction sounds good. Perry Farrell's voice can be like sandpaper after a while.

I've got my share of CDs from Tool, Linkin Park, Metallica, AC/DC, Korn, etc... definitely hard to keep the skinny pedal off the floorboard while you listen to that stuff!
But sometimes I'm not looking for inspiration to speed. Sometimes I just want to roll down the windows and enjoy a warm summer night on a twisty country road. That's when I like to cruise around and listen to music that starts with Z, like Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top. I'm talking about the older stuff from each band, like ZZ Top's Tres Hombres and Fandango, or Zeppelin I and II. If you're going for maximum Z-ness, you can't leave out the tunes! :)

Linkin Park, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, 311, STP, Rage against the Machine (careful you don't get too excited), Audioslave, RHCP.
For slower rides, Pink Floyd, Weezer, Sublime, Dave Matthews, Coldplay.
Personally, I boughta CD player, and I just burn a new CD every few weeks with new radio songs etc.

NSANY: Linkin Park's Meteora is very good -- minimal F-bombs. Also, I've always got one from Tool in the changer, and if you haven't listened to AC/DCs Razor's Edge lately, that's got some good riffs. The new Staind album is pretty decent, but they do like their F-bombs on that album. I prefer to avoid what I consider "blue" language when possible... however, having said that, I haven't taken that album out since I put it in. You may want to try Disturbed and Godsmack as well.
Scafremon: Temple of the Dog is a sweet album... very cool stuff. For Soundgarden, the only one I bought is SuperUnknown, as it, to me, has a similar feel to temple of the dog. Nothing by Pearl Jam ever approached what happened before, but Soundgarden did a decent job. Also, you may want to check out AudioSlave -- they've retained quite a bit of "soundgarden-ness" in that new one.

I almost forgot how much fun Motley Crue can be. Kickstart my heart is either the best driving song, or the best strip club song. Take your pick...

I have about 500 CD's in my library Bach to Zwan, and I'm having a blast going through them.
I have owned the Z 4 weeks this Thursday and my favorite so far is Jeff Beck's new CD "Jeff." Some awesome songs, especially tracks 8,9,11, and 12. Santana's "Shaman" (track 15) is excellent and Massive Attack's "Mezzanine," and "100th Window. CD's" Coldplay's "Clocks" sounds pretty good too...

It may be my imagination. I have been following all of the Bose complaints closely on numerous websites. But some CD's sound much better on the stock Bose system in the Z than others. My burned CD's, though they sound great on the factory Bose system in my Audi A4, have a "muddy" sound in the Z. Has anybody else noticed this?

Jeff Beck has a new CD called "jeff." It just came out about two weeks ago. I love "You had it Coming," which is more bluesy than "jeff," which is a bit more jazzy. Great guitar in both cases. If you liked the last one, you'll like this one. (especially in the Z...)

ZPRESENCE,
I liked "You Had It Coming," and "Jeff" so much that I picked up the 1999 Jeff Beck CD that came out before "You Had It Coming." I think that it might just be the best out of the three. It's called "Who Else!" You would not believe track #7. WARNING-ONLY PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS ON A CLOSED COURSE LISTEN TO THIS SONG WHILE DRIVING A Z!

try Marty Friedman "Music for Speeding". Former Megadeth guitarist does a Satriani type deal. Title says it all.

How about some
Billy Idol - White Wedding
Van Halen - Unchaned
Led Zepplin - Street Corner Girl
Rush - Free Will or Red Barchetta
Metallica - Enter the Sand Man
And of Course you have to top it off with AC/DC - Dirty Deeds. If that doesn't make you aggressive, then you need to have your sperm count checked.

I've never found an artist or group where I enjoy more than two or three cuts off an album. Sooooo I make great use of my CD burner to make custom compilations from an array of CDs we've accumulated around here.
I like rock stuff with hard driving guitar and/or drum beats. Just made up a CD that fills the bill with groups ranging from Buddy Holly to U2
For more relaxed crusin, I go to moden jazz or recent American Indian (sounds wierd but good stuff) "modrnized" music such as Sacred Spirit, Ah nee Mah, & Michel Cusson. Jazz tastes run from Herbie Mann to Down To the Bone.

I used to think the Van Halen song "Unchained" was called "On a Train".
On a Train
Nothing stays the same
On a Train
Yea You hit the ground the running
On a Train
And even some of the verse lyrics strengthened my incorrect interpretation of Roth's drivel.
