why does the 350Z have such crappy paint? I have super black Z and i barely had it for 3 weeks and i have so much swirl marks and little scratches everywhere. I was wondering if the dealer can fix this problem. If any one knows anything please reply back. thanks

Time for a couple coats of Z-5 and then a couple Z-2 and a Z-6 final coat! Right Bonz? :D

You might want to get the Zaino starter kit which has all three Zaino products including claybar, wash, ZFX fixer, and polishing pads. Z-5 works wonders for making swirl marks disappear completely on dark finishes. Zaino also contains a UV blocker and is pretty good at keeping contaminants from getting to the paint.

Have you washed your car since you've had it? Most of the swirl marks come from washing it and/or drying it without the proper wash, towels, etc/

It has "crappy paint" in regard to the "Orange Peel" but not the swirls.

These come from washing and drying the car and are always the worst on a black car. You need to read a tutorial on Zaino.

Wait until you see the chips and scratches in your front bumper and hood after a few more weeks!

I think your best bet might be to get your car polished by a professional, then start following the directions that these guys are talking about - you don't necessarily need to use Zaino, despite what the Zaino zealots tell you. :) But the tips about the type of materials to use and things like that are pretty universal no matter what product you decide to use.

Hope this helps... if you have any specific questions we'd be happy to help you find the answers.

I didn't mean to imply that he HAS to use Zaino. IMO it is the best out there, but WHATEVER you use, you have to do it correctly or you WILL get swirls.

Just yanking your chain a little, Bonz...

I just wanted to make sure J'sSuPeRbLaCk-Z didn't think we were pushing any particular product (*cough* CG *cough*) like some of the other sites have been known to do. Zaino is by far the most popular product here, but there are some Blackfire users, Mothers users, Meguire's users, and probably even a Zymol user or two. It's all good stuff, just different products to meet different needs.

Heck, I won 2nd place in the 350Z class at a recent show, and all I did to prep for the show was run it through the gas station's touchless car wash on the way to the show to get some of the bugs off the bumper, then wipe it down with quick detail spray on a microfiber towel. :D

It takes extra care for black cars; if you want to eliminate swirls try Eagle Wet.After washing your car spray it on towel it off works great!!!!If you are concerned about orange peel look at a Mercedes it may make you feel better.

Listen to this...

a DAY after I got my beloved Z while I was driving home from work something (a rock, screw, cruise missle?) hit the hood and bounced off the windshield (luckily it didn't break but it hit hard enough for me to actually duck my head). When I got home I got out and to my horror there was a huge chunk of the paint on the hood gone (about the size of a pea). After several choice words :cussing: I contacted the dealer and explained what happened. I went in the next day and after they looked at it, they said I had two choices:

1. They could completely repaint the hood, but it would noticibly not match the rest of the paint on the car. (Without my Z for 5 to 7 days and $350.00 labor)

2. They could touch up the chip with black paint and then buff the entire hood (Without the Z for 1 day *No Charge*).

I opted for option#2 and it actually came out pretty good. I have had my Z for a little over a month now and there are unfortunately several chips and scratches around the front grill area, but I guess that is just what happens.
