Ok all.. here is the latest and it is not sounding great......
Nissan is going to send out a customer satisfaction questionaire in conjunction with Bose IN OCTOBER. ACCCK!!! From that, selected VIN's that fall within a certain gap, especially those that have already had the TSB done for the amp, will then have the "tweaks" performed.
It doesn't sound as promising as it originally started out as. But, I have waited a year, whats another 2 months....
I did espress my displeasure at this latest response for what it is worth. I know I will never have a vehicle with a BOSE system in it again. Nissan may lose a 7 time repeat customer as well.....

I've had it with Bose. Bose claims to be the best but puts out crap. It's like selling monkey poop for $150! At least the other crappy electronics companies don't charge tons of money for the products they sell. Hey Bose, eat me!
Just thought I'd vent a little.

As I said on another site...First we were told that there would be a "fix" by the end of August. Now we have VIN numbers and October. I guess I'll have to send another letter, they never responded to the first, to Nissan/Bose. Bose may lose a formerly satisfied customer. I am a new Nissan customer with the Z, but my wife has had an Ultima and currently has a Maxima. That may have to change if there is no adequate resolution to this Bose problem.

My wifes Acura MDX had a BOSE taht sounded nice. But, it is now sold and awaiting our Chrysler Pacifica to come in. The stereo in it is incredible. Infinity Intermezzo with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround....

I'd give it a chance to get worked out. My Bose in my Pathfinder is great. I highly doubt that they'll leave customers high and dry, but it may just take time to sort out how many folks are affected, etc.
My model doesn't have the Bose, but from what I'm hearing it sounds like the TSB regarding the amp replacement didn't fix things?

Not even close. I think the first "fix" actually made the sound worse. I'm going to stay hopeful but I have a feeling that it's in vain. I'm going to start looking into aftermarket fixes.

I have a Bose in my Acura TL and it sounds good. We are disappointed with the 350z system.

I had a Bose in my envoy that I traded for the Z. It was a great system. My old Triumph had a KRACO with an 8 track that sounded better than this thing that is passed off as a upgraded stereo in my touring z. I spoke to BOSE yesterday, spoke with Patty Bolack who informed me that she did not know when a fix would be forth coming and that if I talked to Nissan they were not even acknowledging a problem. She even acted like that Bose was backing down off their previous admission of inferior product(its a good thing I saved the email). If my car doesnt fall within the VIN numbers they are going to have to come to Tennessee and defend a Consumer Protection Act suit. I am getting tired of the run around and am definately tired of the POS they are passing off as a "better" stereo system.
Drove into work in my TL listening to a CD of Bach fugues on that Bose system. The music covers the entire range from very high flute like notes to base that I feel in my bones. All with a system whose specs are not anywhere near as good on paper as those for the Z. I certainly expect Bose to live up to their promise and to make the system in the Z at least match the sound quality of the system in the TL.

...and what's this stuff I hear about the head unit being Bose but the amplifier and speakers being Clarion. My window sticker didn't say "Bose/Clarion Premium sound system $XXXX" Let me in on that consumer protection suit!

OK call me a dummy - but - what is a Consumer Protection Act suit? Anything like a Lemon Law Suit? The reason I ask is -
1) I am now the proud owner of a Bose/Clarion replacement amp which still sound like S---. Not the stereo I expected or want.
1) I am on my second set of tires at 12K miles and will probably need another set at 15K miles. Needless to say - I WANT MY MONEY BACK. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

ummmm.... you want your money back for the car because you drive like an a-hole and keep burning off your tires, fat chance. The Bose claim is legit though.
Do we have any lawyers out there?

You do know that our stock tire rating is 140 assuming you have the bridgestone (forgot the model)..... but I'm sure majority of our cars uses the same tire.

Come on now, do you really think Bose/Nissan is going to do anything two months from now? So why the questionaire? They already know who has the problem systems by monitoring the complaint calls to NNA and Bose. They are just buying time to hope that those who have problems will give up and forget about it.
I have complained to NNA, Bose and the BBB and just get the run around and finger pointing in another direction. In my opinion this is a NISSAN PROBLEM and NISSAN SHOULD FIX IT!

Now here's question for those that went with route #2 (aftermarket products :D)
Did you guys swithc out the speaker components and sub to cure the problem ro did you have to switch out the head unit also?
I plan to save up some money for a killer system :) (Focal speakers/Mb quarts with JL sub and amp :)) later, but I'd also like to know if I should save up for a head unit also in order to solve this problem.

Does anyone have a lawyer that can write a legal letter to Nissan/ Bose threatening a lawsuit? Sometimes this is the only way to get things done.
