Road Rally in VA (ala Cannonball Run)?!

Someone left a postcard invitation on my Z today to a Road Rally race being held on Sept 13, starting in Richmond, VA.. 500 mile course, directions and clues to be given at the start of the race.. $135 entrance fee.

Entrance fee includes overnight accomodations and after-race party.

There are some cool cars on the race list, and as of yet, no Z's..

Anyhow, thought I would pass it along... if you've ever done one, please let me know how it went and your thoughts.

Looks like the standard kind of rally where hitting checkpoints at specific times is the objective rather than outright speed. What I found interesting was the sponsor of the event (crossroad online.com) looks like a group with a lot of enthusiasts in our area. When I went to their website, I saw a cruise-in event about 15 minutes from where I live.

Crossroads definitely seem to be very active... I saw the cruise in Sterling.. that looks to be very close to you.

I was thinking of doing their "end of summer" cruise and lunch through the mountains via skyline drive on October 4

A couple more Z's and we could have a nice contingency!

I'm going to try and get more details myself... the wife and I are seriously thinking of going.. we both enjoy photographing the leaves in the fall and this could be a good excuse to make a weekend of it.
