This weekend was my dad's 64th birthday. My sister (the one with the little SLK 230 SC'ed Mercedes that I Zainoed and posted pics of a little while back) and I decided to do a full Zaino detailing on his Jag XK8. My dad isn't much for taking car of his cars other than letting someone else "wash and wax" it every so often.
We "stole" the car Saturday morning and in the 40 degree "heat" of beautiful western PA, we Dawned, clayed, Z-7, dried, Z-6, Z-5 with ZFX, Z-6, Z-5 no ZFX overnight, and buffed. I took the final layer off this morning and Z-6ed it and delivered it to him today when I went down to his house to watch the Eagles game (a tradition we have done for over 20 years now). He loved it!
Here are some pics:

Geez, Bonzer, your dad is only three years older than me! Maybe I'll have a Jag by his age! I better convince my youngest hotshot the Family Scholarship expires when he graduates from Cal next year! LOL!
Slick cars run in the family, huh?

When you say SLICK, if you mean covered in Zaino, YES!
I always hand buff. Zaino goes on and comes off extremely easily and you really don't have to use an orbital buffer. No problem if you do. I just don't.

Dr. Bonz,
You changed towels from the ones that you recommend in your editorial. I know because I bought everything that you recommended. Why did you switch? I didn't clearly understand the new towel website. Are these towels terry or microfibre? All natural? I thought that their description was confusing...they must be good and worth the price if you're using them!
[nice jag...]

I don't care for that dftowel website. It's probably been a year since I first found it (from discussion threads at my350z), and the site just does not give me the feeling that their towels are very special, because they just don't make it easy to really know what you are buying.
Whenever I see the site mentioned, I always check the site again, thinking that they will have improved it, and tell me more specifics on the towels.
For microfibre towels, I am still very happy with pakshak.com, including their waffle weave towel for drying. I do have a few 100% cotton Made in USA terry towels I bought for my Zaino, but I bought the extra large size, and feel that they are just too big to manuever wtih around the car. I'll probably cut them in half this weekend and try that.

I agree that the DF website leaves a lot to be desired but trust me, these towels are excellent! They are "Microfiber terrycloth" and are the softest I have ever felt. They actually make the Zaino process easier than it already was.
I switched just about a month ago when I read several posts over at My350Z and then I registered over at Autopia (the worlds largest detailing forum, more information there then I have time to read) and those guys really talked highly of them so I gave them a shot and will never go back. I did purchase some waffle weave towels for drying as well and they too are excellent. I got them from the autopia store.
I'll have to do an update in my next editorial that I am writing.........ahhhhh.....next wee......aaahhhhhh tomorr......ahhhhh Right now. Yeah, THAT'S the ticket. I'm writing it RIGHT NOW and my beautiful wife Morgan Fairchild is sitting on my lap as a write. :)

Do you still use the "California Water Blade" for drying...?
Dr Bonz

Yep. It really speeds up the process. Now I don't have to do it quite so much since the waffle weave microfiber drying towels from Autopia are extra absorbant. They don't streak and you don't ever have to wring them out if you use the blade first.

Dr. Bonz...you don't have to bother. I found the autopia website; registered, and bought some waffle weave towels, a detailer's spray nozzle, a wool wash mit, and my favorite, P21S Spray Gel Wheel Cleaner. [with the new member 10% discount...] Thanks for the information...
