Just picked up my roadster. a Siverstone with auto trans. a couple of questions. Does anybody know what the audio pilot on the radio " audio" button is supposed to do? And Where can I get a good cover? ( I don't have a garage for it) thanks in advance. GK

Not sure what button you are referring to. Is it "auto" or "audio"?
I know some cars have a button that says "auto" and what that one does is scan through all of your local FM stations and save the 5 most powerful ones in the 5 preset spots on your radio.
The button is near the bottom right hand side of the radio. When you push it you scroll thru bass, treble, balance, fade and then audiop ???. The manual calls it Audio pilot which you can turn on or off but it doesn't describe what the function is that is being turned on and off. I hope that helps.

Znut, that's a noise compensator. When it's on, it's supposed to automatically turn the radio volume up to compensate for increased road or wind noise, and back down when outside noises decrease. I had the same feature on my Silverado. Don't expect too much from it.
Thanks for the info. I'll try to pay attention to it, see if it makes a difference.

Really?? Is this on all models or just on the upgraded Bose? Is it an 04 or an 03? Mine just does the bass, treble, fade, balance thing. If it does this noise limiter thing, I have never seen it.
Hmmm. And I thought I knew just about all there is to know about the Z! :)

It's just on the 04 touring with the Bose. Not having this (a way to shut it off) was one of the things that most 03 touring owners Hated about the Bose System. The Audio Pilot is what caused the "booming" in the Very early 03 350z's. there is a TBS out to fix it (by replacing the amp) but it just makes it worse.

Oh, OK, I guess I DID know about it then. I just didn't know it was called Audio Pilot!

Regarding the question about a cover... I have the Nissan OEM cover, and it fits like a glove. Not sure if they've issued a different one for the roadster, but I'm very happy with the cover I have for my coupe. There's an awesome level of attention to detail in the cover.

The audiopilot thing was what insaneamine had come up with the $0.20 resistor fix for. There's a microphone underneath the steering column that checks ambient noise levels and adjusts the volume accordingly. Mine was annoying because when you hit a heavy bass note, the volume would go down. Even after the second amp fix (which is good, btw) I've still left the resistors in place of the mic because there was no defeat option for audio pilot. The `03s definately didn't have the option to turn it off... that's a nice add.

The 2nd fix actually works. The amp that works is the 400E', if you have the 400D', have it switched, it made a huge difference in my '03.

Courtsey Nissan sells a Nissan car cover for the roadster.
AuburnG thanks for the info. I just ordered a cover from California Car Cover Co. I've used their superweave cover before and I like it a lot. while they didn't have a roadster cover on their web site they do have them. I'll have it in 2weeks and cost $300. GK
