Hello Z fans.

My name is Tome (toe-may). I've been shopping for a new car for a couple of weeks not and still haven't decided what to buy. I came to buying this time around as I wanted a sport sedan as I want more room than my current 2000
Mits Eclipse GT. I've looked at the Infiniti G35, Audi A4, BMW 325, Subaru WRX, Acura 3.2 S, Lexus IS300, Jaguar X type. All nice cars with strengths and weaknesses. I've been trying to put the Z out of my mind but I can't.
I tell myself that I need 4 doors and decent back seats. I'm NOT married but I do like taking my nieces and nephews on trips as I am the single uncle who's as much of a kid as anyone. But, the Z has no backseats as you know.
But I do love it so. The Lemans sunset is the color I want in the Enthusiast package. I like the standard cloth seats, very nice stuff. I sat in a touring model with the leather seats but they felt a bit "tight" to me? Is it just me or do the leather seats feel just a bit tighter, narrower? The color of the brownish leather is extremely cool though.

I even considered the Infiniti G35 coupe as it does have backseats but I HATE the idiotic placement of the power seat buttons right at the edge of the side bolsters IN the seat. Bad idea, bad execution. I drove the G35 sedan. It's a very nice car but the seats suck because of the power buttons. I see the Infiniti coupe has the same setup. I'm a larger than average bear and need all the seat bottom I can get. So, the controls dig into my thigh and that doesn't work for me. Luckily the stock seats in the Z fit me fine.

How does this car drive? What is the suspension like on the highway?
Is the interior loud? Tire noise, wind noise? The sound of the V6 in the G35 is stunning, giving nothing up to the 325 in line 6. Both are fine sounding, rev happy engines. I'm sure the Z version of the venerable V6 is as sweet if not sweeter.

Can anyone compare some of the cars I've mentioned to the driving experience of the Z? It would be helpful. I don't want to put a deposit on a Z just to find I don't like the ride.

Please help if you can. :)

Tome

I love my Z and it's my daily driver - very comfortable but firm, which I like. The seats on the Z would be my main concern for someone of your size - they hold you in tight but may seem a bit too tight for those size 44 and beyond jackets. A rather large gent sat in mine as I completed the paper work at the dealer and 'remarked he couldn't get comfortable.

Subjective. To say the least. You will have to find a 350Z to sit in and decide for yourself.

Personally , I love mine. It is one of the few sports cars a big guy like myself can find comfort in.

BTW I wear a size 50 coat, almost 6 ft tall . and am entirely to plump.:o Still I have no problems with roomieness.

Good luck.

Robert !

How many 2 seater sports cars have you owned? If you say none you may not like the Z. It is a sports car first and transportation second. The seats are very comfortable, the ride is very firm, which I like and the road noise is not quiet, but its not overly loud either. The sound of the exhaust is pure music to my ears, the best save a Ferrari or one of the old Jaguar XKEs. I rejected the M3, 330iC, Boxster, Corvette and others to buy this car. I love the car except for the "summer" tires. They are overly stiff and noisy to me but, others seem to not have a problem with them. This car is very fast and has torque to burn and I bought the 5AT with the manual mode to see how I liked it after many years of driving MTs. I couldn't be happier with my choice; and a poll on one of the Z sites voted the Enthusiast model the biggest bang for the buck. Again, I am 6' 5" and 285 lbs and wear a size 50 extra long in suit coats, when I picked the car up, I weighed 295 and still fit. Hope this helps.
