Which one is your favorite and why? Do you like the new ad campaign for the Z?

They all seem to lack something. Out of all of them the track is the best. They all need more action.........
I think the ad campaign for the 350Z sucks. I've done commercial work, nothing on the national scale. But, I know I could have done much better.
In fact, I had 2 ad ideas that I was working on in my head to fit the whole retro theme. I wanted to use the tune "Highway Star" by Deep Purple, that's from the 70's you know. :) And the tune "Space Truckin" from Deep Purple as well.
I had read how the designers listened to 70's rock while creating the Z and they wanted to get in that mood. The ad would start with black and the intro of the song would start, then there would be quick fades to close up parts of the Z. So, pict then fade, pict than fade, pict than fade. This would be on a brightly lit full moon night on a twisty road in the mountains.
So quick shots of exterior, then unknown driver working controls, hard launch onto the black silvery moon lit ashphalt ribbon catching the car from various angles. Perhaps, using perspective of night animals such as Owl's, chipmunks, Hawk flying above looking down, wolves running along side on a trail. The looks would be at night but brightly lit and the film would be pushed so that it would be brighter than your typical night time scene.
The other ad would be shots of cool roads at night as well (I like that mysterious feel of the night), quick shots of roads faded with quick flashes of white light, no music just a quick sound effect of an eletronic light turning off burst. This would set a rythym, then....a camera shot low to the ground coming towards a hill, sound up power chord guitar and bright lights flash towards the screen, cut to quick shot of Z flying past, then a series of cool shots of Z driving through roads. Music loud and Z car sounds mixed in.
Another idea is to have the Z stationary in the middle of a race track. The car is not moving and the shot is one long shot moving slowly along the lines of car, moving around it showing it's curves and lines. Meanwhile you hear the car being driven hard to redline with shifts and acceleration, cool tones of it's exhaust, and in the background a mixture of people cheering and other cars in the distance trying to catch up but can't. The whole time the audio is loud with sounds of mechanical music but the visual is of slow movements along the Z's sensous body. Is it the calm before the storm or is it resting after
it's over? Good ad for the track model. :)
C'mon Nissan, let me do these ads.

The adds so far stink. Just amagine the theme song from blade and the 350z ripping through the city streets. Or better yet the theme song from Miami Vice, I think Crocket & Tubbs are open for the comercial...................:D

Check this (http://www.njzclub.com/downloadablestuff/nissan_z_launch_dsl.mov) out. I had this saved once, and had to look far and wide to find it again when my HDD crapped out.
If this 90 second clip doesn't stir your soul, then you're definitely not meant to own a Z. Every time I see this, I get that uncontrollable urge to grab the keys and go...
(The link is a bit iffy at times, so I'll try to find a place to repost the .MOV file. It's about 2.5MB, but worth the wait.)

I have mixed feelings about the ads. First, I really like the music in all of them, the acoustic guitar in the second one is like classic Clapton. But therein lies the problem, the Z should be the focus, not the music. I watched NSANY's clip and really liked it, but the car was the focus, not the music.
I would suggest Nissan begin to introduce color into their commercials and especially some colors besides the silver on the Z. Its a great color, but it has been overused in most of the commercials and all of the magazine ads. They need to have more shots of the car in different colors as their ads evolve, at least, I hope they evolve. Black and white is dramatic but grows old quickly.
Color dominates our audiovisual world and it needs to come out now. I liked the previous poster's ideas and departure from the present ad campaign. The black and white has been a good beginning, with great music, now the ads need color and more shots of the car in movement sequences with more of the great music. Color and motion need to dominate their ads to show off the Z and I want to hear the tailpipe as music too. Not squealing tires, motor growl should be the music within the music, if you understand what I mean. Use the CD Nissan sent to the preorders where you could start an engine and rev it too. Just starting it was a revelation for me, a wonderful sound. I rarely revved it because the startup sound was so musical.
Boomer--my opinion, use it or lose it, I don't care.

they should definitely make a sequel to the Barbie and GI Joe commercial (anyone have that?).
the commercial would start with ken standing there watching the z32 disapear into the distance then as he turns around barbie's "sister" walks out and they look at each other like its love at first site. then very silently you start to hear the 350z exhaust note in the backround and ken has a look of sheer terror on his face. then a redline z drifts and stops centimeters away from ken and barbie's sister runs to z and gets in, then the z does a bunout and speeds away leaving ken standing there with a tear running down his cheek. i used to love that commercial soo much absolutely hilarious.

Gambino: I have a copy of that commercial in MPG format. I can't remember where I got it. It's 8.4 MB so I probably wouldn't be able to e-mail it to you. I just watched it and can't wipe the smile off of my face. That is one of my all time favorite commercials!:D

Reviving a very old thread here.
Links to the commercials are dead. Does anybody out there have these QuickTime movies?
I've been looking for them for quite some time!
Thanks,

Thanks a lot for the link. Looked all over but never thought to look in the Gallery sections of Z sites - duh! Sorry for my ignorance!
I got 'em all downloaded so I can watch them over and over again. After I watch 'em, I go and look in my garage and just smile knowing I've got one of those babies! How obsessive is that? ;)

Did anyone notice that in the commercial with the Z crossing the finish line (US version) there is a small disclaimer saying something to the effect of "closed course, professional driver" and these words are NOT in the Japanese version?
Yet another thing to love about the good old USA....Lawyers!

I am so curious to see this, but the link doesn't work, when you got the site, it says it doesn't exist.
Can somebody please put it up, or tell me where I can see it.
Thanks!

I myself just watched that Concept Z launch video after having not seen it in a while. What an awesome piece of work. I can neither lace my shoes up nor grab my keys fast enough.
I'm so thankful that Nissan turned it around and was ever able to come out with the 350Z.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go scrub some tread off my tires...
