As I posted many moons ago, my son accidentally vertically opened up my passenger side Lambo door before he had it out far enough horizontally.
This caused a big ding in the door panel on the inside of the door. I did the same thing later although to a much less noticible degree on the driver's side.
I have been trying to come up with a way to put some kind of pad or bumper on this area to #1 cover up the dings and #2 prevent them from happening again in the future.
Here is what I did:
I bought these door edge guard bumpers from Autosport.
http://www.autosportcatalog.com/index.cfm?fa=p&pid=1901&cid=105
They are called the "slim line" door edge guards on the above page.
I cut them and then attempted to simply peel off the adhesive and stick them on.
This didn't work very well since #1 the adhesive wasn't strong enought and didn't stick well to the "snake skin" of the door panel and #2 the place were I needed to stick them is approximately a 90 degree angled section of door panel.
I then took a sharp knife and dug out a "V" shaped groove in the sticky side of the guard. I then used a hot glue gun to glue them on with the "V" shaped notch draped over the 90 degree edge of the panel.
Here is a pick of the drivers side ding:
