Hey guys -
Was wondering if you all knew about this site...
www.z-obsession.com
It seems like theres 3 or 4 different 350Z message boards out there, it would be nice if we could all get together and agree on one to use so we have one big Z community for the latest Z.
*As a site note: I am not the moderator of the site I just listed - just a fan!
You may need to go to www.z-obsession.com/forum/index.php
I like Z-Obsession, but they started their site a little bit after this one was created by LeMansZ, and they promoted it better in the beginning. I think the general consensus is that my350z.com has the most discussion, but it's so busy now that you have to wade through all the worthless threads there. Plus you have to deal with all the useless politics that have ensued as of late. Unfortunately, the smaller boards are still working on getting some good topics together to discuss...

Heeeeyyyyyy...be nice. :p
What worthless threads? You don't want to read through 18 threads about orange peel or mustangs? What's wrong with you?
:D

My feeling is that the community is going to get too large to support these "all purpose" forums. By this time next year there will be 30,000+ 350z's out there. My350z.com is already collapsing under its own weight. :(
I think whats really needed right now is a site that hosts forums for specific regions, and a general purpose "news" site (could be at the same place) that is not a forum, just a summary of 350z news - parts, nissan info, events, etc.

Mega dittos on the regional forum idea.
This idea was brought up a zillion times in the Charter Member forum, but went unheeded.
I draw on www.i-club.com for an idea of how to properly lay out an auto-related V-Bulletin site. General, technical, regional, it's all there.
I'll gladly volunteer my time and energy to help!

Well I looked at i-Clubs forums nice site. Very good structure on the forums. What specifically should we use here? What can we do here to set up the forums so they will work the best?
I know from my experience at my350z.com that I want to divide the forums up more for different areas of North America. Do we want to divide the into Regions or Z Clubs or both?
I would like to discuss the news section in more detail. Are you looking for a more structured News Section, LowFuel?
I have a news script running on the homepage that I can share access with other people to update. This would allow people to update the homepage without me. Enabling the News to be more current. Feedback?

Yeah, thats exactly what I mean. Basically just a place where I can checkin and find out whats "news" with the 350z, without having to sift through tons of posts on various forums.
I dont have a good example of a car site that does this, but if you look at www.bluesnews.com - they are a great site for quickly finding out all the latest news in the video gaming world. Basically just quick headlines, a small summary, and a link to the actual article/forum thread/whatever. A nice perk, but not an absolutely must have, is that people can post comments on these stories in the same format that the forums work.
And if definitely helps if you allow various, trusted people to be able to update the news page, so that it gets more frequently updated.
Also I would choose regional forums rather than Z club forums. If people are forming official Z clubs, they should have their own site and forum unless they make a special arrangement with you. In other words, no need to created a "GroupZ" forum (the LA owners club) if they already have their own. But having a "Southern California" regional forum, non-specific to any club, is cool.
As always, just my opinion. :)

Hey guys-
Looks like a couple of us old-timers made it over here! Thanks Nsany and Rainmanz for that. ;) And yes, what worthless posts are you talking about? The ones asking about the points system? :D :D I hope we see some good things going on over here - I'll have to peek around a little bit more, but things look pretty good to me so far. Great job Jeremy.

Ya got me in. I'm tired of wading thru all the garbage, multiple threads about the same things, I'm all for a smaller, more exclusive site.
I like the layout better too. Looks like some of the orgionals are here, let's keep it up.
Great work Jeremy!

Jill, Mike:
Good to see you made it over. Let's keep the momentum going. With the improved layout that Jeremy has provided, and the kick-*** crew of mods, I'm sure we're on the road to a GREAT site!

PS - Jill, can I count on you to be active on the NJ regional forum?

Yes, you can count on me to be active on the Northeast regional forum. I saw the posts, I just haven't had time to respond, been pretty busy this weekend. Are you all the way up in North Jersey? I don't know how often I'm going to be able to get up there, but I'll try :)

Bruce,
Glad to see you found your way, after I gave you the correct address that is. :) Even more glad you finally got your Z. We'll need to get the Chicago gang together for a cruise soon.
