I've had a re-occuring rattle since day one in the car. The service techs fixed it by having a small tech ride in the hatch and listen for it. The rattle was in the panel behind the seats. The took it off, insulated the panel, put it back on and the rattle was gone. I think I remember another member here who had a rattle, isolated it to the rear tailight, took it apart and after re-assembly, it was gone. So, for the DIYers in our midst, the plastic panels in the rear hatch area may be fertile ground to isolate rattles in our Zs. Just a thought.

I had a loud rattle in the panels/compartments behind the seats also. Dealership fixed it the same way yours did, pull them apart and put foam/tape/etc. in there. That worked for a while and continues to work as long as I have nothing in the compartments...now I'm experimenting with putting things back in, I squeeze a lot in :), to see if it is the amount of weight in probably the big compartment making a new rattle in my car.

So far, I haven't had an occasion to load up the compartments. I do have a problem w/CDs, however, there aren't any compartments for the jewel boxes and they would definitely rattle in the ones we have unless they were in a box of some kind.
