Hello,
I'm new to the car, the forums and picking out rims. I've done some looking around and I think I like to go with 19" Volk GT-S rims but I know I like rims with a fat chrome lip. I'm undecided on going with something other then all chrome rims. I'd like to stuff 19x9.5 front and 19x10 in the rear. I read that the stock Z has an offset of 30, I'm not exactly sure how much or little I would need. I have no clue what size tire I would put on these. Mostly I use the car to commute with so something all seasonal. I'm partial to Michelin tires but I know there are other good ones out there.
The wheels would be the cars first mod, so I'm not sure what are the widest rims and tires that will fit without having to shave the tires, roll or lip the fenders or put a suspension kit that includes camber and height adjustments. Suspension mod would be my next step but it’s not in the budget right now. If you guys would make some recommendations, that would be great. Budget right now is $2500 for rims and tires.
It's hard to really tell what color a rim is from all the pictures I've seen on different wheel websites <maybe I just need to go to a local shop just to look> like how dark is hyperblack, and a couple different colors of silver like:
http://www.upgrademotoring.com/wheels/volk_racing/gts_1.jpg
Special colors available (at $30.00 each wheel) - Mercury Silver. RMC finish add $150.00 per wheel.

Do the GT-S's, I think you can get them (Wheels,Tires, and shipping) for around 3200-3500. Hope that helps.

That's so funny, when I read the title I was going to suggest GT-S, go with them

seems that alot of z/g owners like/love the volks variety. take a look at some of the axis wheels. some are pretty sharp and would be a nice mod (for your listed budget). good luck

+1 on the axis wheels, if your not able to get the GTS's I would look at the Axis Hiro's. Here is picture of them:

I'm liking the gunmetal more and more  My wife is more traditional, she likes chrome.
Its odd how its really hard to judge a rim when its not on the car. You guys make Axis rims look great!

yeah, gunmetal looks great...I am not a fan of chrome on the Z at all. Also keep in mind, that Volk's are forged and lightweight whereas Axis are cast and a bit heavier...

ML2000 who makes that wing? I wonder if it would fit on a roadster. That lip looks great also, are they both Nismo?

mlesnews, I thinks it's a Nismo wing but i'm not a 100% sure, I don't no if it will fit a roadster. I will see if I can find out for you if it will fit.

mlesnew, I don't think the nismo wing is going to fit your roadster, but I did find a site that shows most of the wings and body kits on the market.

Hope that helps

I just came across a new site over a week ago & now it is under construction. Should be ready in 10-15 days. They have 10 different styles but only 3 for the Z. I have pics of 2 and the 3rd. will be a new design for '07. They will be priced far below Axis & a lot lighter also with the deep dish look. Chrome is not available... only 3 finishes, Brilliant Silver (new silver), Black (glossy), Chrome Black (metallic). Only 19's & 20's. BTW 19" wheel offsets for the Z IMHO should be front: +15 to +20, rear:+20 to +25 for a Great Stance. No +30's unless you have spacers. Here's an example of what I will be buying....
front: 19X8.5, +20 offset, 2&1/2" lip, weight 21.2
rear: 19X9.5, +25 offset, 4" lip, weight 23.0
If you want to compare with the Axis Milano....offset, lip size & weight...
front: +15 offset, 2" lip, weight 25.0
rear: +20 offset, 2&1/2" lip, weight 26.0
Both are cast however the lip with this company will be a polished stainless, the Milano lip is really not that great looking.
I've been looking for over a year. My budget is $2,100 Max
for rims & tires (Toyo-T1R's). A excellent summer tire.
Good Luck on your wheel venture!

Great choice on wheels, but it is going to be tough to stay around $2500. unless you find a used set.
I'm currently running the Volk GT-V's in Mercury Silver. 9.5x19f & 10.5x19r, with Toyo T1-R's - 245/35f & 27535 r. on my G.
What color is your car?
Good luck!

This pic belongs to a good friend of mine...Joey P. The rear deck spoiler is the authentic nismo (will not fit the ZR)....BTW he originally bought the nismo replica but it would never fit right. The Hiro's are 18" Anthracite with Toyo tires. The front lip is carbon fiber in the middle...looks cool....but the fitment is not 100%, made by VIS Racing. He also has Carbign Craft Carbon fiber mirror covers (not in pic) & the Injen dual exhaust. A very nice Z. :jumping40

Yeah I'm trying to imagine it as a roadster, it looks damn sweet as a coupe. I'd love to see more pics, especially a head-on view.

I'm waiting to see what yours look like. But the Hiro's are making me rethink the GTS's.

I bought a set of Hyper black Ruff 278's for my LS ZR and for the money they are hard to beat. I only got 18 inch wheels so I am not sure what weight the 19s are but mine had the stats below
color: hyper black
weight front 24lbs
rear 26lbs
The front wheel is 18x8.5 with a 20 offset and 2.5 in lip
The rear wheel is 18x9.5 with a 20 offset and a 4 in lip
Its a nice wheel that can be found shipped for around $750 shipped for 18s and $900 for a set of 19s

Has anyone done new tires with a white roadster and can share pics. I am having a **** of a time deciding :(

Black, gold, white, or silver ones would look cool on a Pikes roadster. You have so many choices with the white. Do you have a prefence in style (5 spoke, 6 spoke, split spoke, snowflake, solid spoke, etc)?

Well I had an 05 G35 in Lake Shore Slate and had 20inch Axis Mods. Personally, I think certain colors look good with certain wheels. Call me crazy.
I have been looking at the Axis Matrix and of course Volks but they tend to be crazy prices unless I can find a good quality set used.
Ah decisions decisions.
