I was out today with my coupe. Ohio today hit a temperature high of 40 degree. I pulled up to an intersection and came upon a black Z roadster. He was rolling with the top down. What do you top down guys think? How bad do you what to roll with the top down?

The top needs to be down unless it's raining . . . even then, depends where it's raining. Heat works. A/C works.
Driving a ZR with the top up is just immoral - should be illegal.

I have only driven mine with the top up like four times. 3 of them a hard rain and one it was damn cold.
Drive it with the top down. **** even when it is raining you can drive on the interestate, no water gets you.

Heated seats are wonderful! We use them when it is cold and are running topless on the interstate...

I picked my car up Saturday from the body shop and on Sunday we were taking my buddies ride to the shop. Thats when we saw the Z crusing, top down at 40 degrees. We both thought he was nuts.

No way he was nuts!!! I agree with Auburn & blooster 100%. Also most people who buy roadsters want to drive 'em with the top down......http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/sluggoZ/zrtopupdn.gif

One question for you guys. Does it hurt the top any to leave it down for a few days if it just sits in the garage. I figure the less wear on the motor for it going up and down all the time the better. I would put my top up and down twice a day sometimes on the S2000. But the Z has more moving parts to worry about.
What do you guys think. The S also had a plastic window I had to worry about. Thank goodness I don't have that anymore.

The only problem with the top down for a long period of time is that when you put the top up it will just take longer for all the creases to unwrinkle. My ZR is always in the garage with the top up during the spring, summer & fall (stored for the winter). I've had my top replaced not because of the motor & etc.,it was the plastic re-enforcement coming through the top material.
I look at this way....the more you use the top, the better! Less usage could also cause problems. So, I would not worry about it!

Mine sits in the garage with the top down for several days at a time, but I'm trying to do that less often because some of the creases seem to persist.
Agree about using it often - mine goes up and down at least once a day. Better to break it (if it's going to) before the warranty's up, but no signs of malfunction or degradation after almost 3 wonderful years.

Thats good news. That answered my question perfectly. Thanks.

I try to tell Rogue that we need to keep the top up when the car is in the garage. I figure less dust inside the car and I was always taught to store convertible tops up when the car is not moving. Something my parents always did for the 66 vette and 67 camaro that we had when I was little. I guess they did it for the crease and the back windows of those cars were more plastic.

Yup! Less dust for sure!

And since I clean the interior for shows, less dust is great!

I always had the top up when it was parked somewhere I couldn't protect it because I was afraid of someone throwing something in it. We have stupid people around here that would probably throw a pop in it or do something to it. It never happened to me but I just am cautious. I don't worry when its in my garage though.

My top on my 68 malibu goes down at the end of march and stays down until Dec.I clean it with a california duster and use a 50 % diluted Eagle glaze.Any wrinkes in the top are removed with a hand held steam cleaner(bissel) It,s always garaged;pollen season I use a car cover .Very rarely will I get caught in the rain.(major draught here in georgia) so the car has not been washed in five years.

yes it would be
If I didn't want to drive with the top down, a ZR is pointless. So if you've got a drop top, you drop it every chance you get -- which is just about every time you drive it. :) :) :)
