Stogey- The wheels are the same but I went from a Falken 285/35/19 in the rear to a Toyo 295/30/19. Also the I had the car lowered with an Eibach Pro-kit then switched to Tein Flex coilovers. the problem was that even after rolling the fender the new tires rubbed slightly so I had to raise the car a little. As far as the bumper I think it probably looked better if I would have just added a CF lip to the stock. Now I'm thinking of changing to a Nismo V2 bumper just so I can get more air to the top half of the intercooler.
Rojin and Carbon- Iv'e come to grips with the fact that I am turning into a bonified POST WHORE and egomaniac so I will gladly post pics of my car on any thread that is somewhat appropriate for them.:jestera:

Driving around Camden SC the other day, I found what is called the 'Camden Tree'. It is located adjacent to the Revolutionary War Camden historical site (the mansion you see peeking around the right side of the tree is is the Kershaw-Cornwallis house, was the Headquarters for Lord Cornwallis during the occupation of Camden 1780-1781 .. kinda cool). Anyhoo. Thought it would make for a nice backdrop for the car.

The paint matched perfect. I went with the Suzuka urethane lip knowing it would be low. At first I wanted a carbon fiber lip but breaking it was about 100%. I will be installing the W1 side skirts and rear bumper cover in carbon fiber. The front plate has'nt been a problem but it will. I have something in mind and probably should get after it.
Damn I need to get better pics of mine. These aren't that old and they're already outdated (mods done that are missing from pics). Once I get my gauges, I will be all done modding. I will take better pics then.

Don't know for sure yet what gauges but they will for sure not be Defi's. Way way more than I want to spend on gauges, even the Nexus gauges are too rich for my blood.
I have been thinking about the Auto lite II's for all 3 gauges. They are just plain old fashined gauges (full sweep) electric (temps), nothing fancy.
The digital one in the pic is not the auto lite II series but they look like a pretty close match to them, bezel and face plate wise??
Was thinking of may using the LED series for the water and oil temp and the analog for the Vac/boost.
I will probably change my mind 20 more times HA.

Well it took awhile but I finally got my new mods done. I received a set of Under the Hood Mirrors for Christmas from my wife but didn't use them until I got my birthday present from my wife (did I say how much I love my wife? :) ) in early April.... My Kaminari Hood!
I wasn't sure if I could still use the mirrors until I checked out the new hood and it turns out that I can use most of them since the cutouts are identical other than where the hood scoop goes. I did use a couple of the mirrors in the center where there are flat surfaces to put them though.
Finally, I added my new SuperchargedZ emblem to the rear of the car.

We had some issues with the hood hitting the 1/8 inch weld on the front of my Kinetex intake so we had to cut out that portion of the hood so it would close. Also had to remove some of the rubber weatherstripping up around the battery and brake fluid compartments.
You can see the cutout portion just to the left of center on the hood. The space between the hood and the front bumper is a little wider than OEM but it is pretty uniform all the way across.

I was getting tired of spending money on mods LOL but I really wanted 2 or 3 gauges, so I went the cheaper route on gauges.
I just got the Autometer Ultra Lite Vac and H20 gauge with a half length dual pod. I went with the half length pillar pod because it was half the price of the full length dual:-)
I got the cheaper pod because I might go ahead and get the oil temp gauge and then get a full 3 pod later on but I just couldn't bring myself to blow $550 on 3 gauges, pod, adapters and a sandwich plate right now.

Well, here are a few quickies of the Z go-fast stable... Doc Bonz is the King of Zaino, but I might be the Queen of Zaino :)
'07 San Marino Blue Touring 350ZR -- at the moment she's bone stock (except for Hawk HPS pads all around).
http://tere.net/t-z/l350zr7.jpg
'91 300ZX TT -- about an SGP stage V+ in mod level.
http://tere.net/t-z/after1.jpg
'03 Blown Brickyard Performance 350Z -- ultra modified -- once you get below the surface into her innards, very little is stock.
http://tere.net/t-z/t350-102.jpg
The engine bay -- fully built engine capable of 25 pounds of boost (without breaking a sweat).
http://zchickz.com/intake6.jpg
And to really get it, all you need to do is run this high res video clip a few times, full screen with the volume up. Two 140+ flybys on the front straight of Texas World Speedway. Right click, save as and then play...
http://zchickz.com/tere-tws-movie.wmv
Here's a few more from the last show -- the '03 took a first, the '07 took a second, and my oldest son's '95 240SX took a second.
http://tere.net/t-z/t350-110.jpg
http://tere.net/t-z/t350-111.jpg
The '03 is on a very "high fiber diet" :)

The red '05 Titan is also a member of our Nissan family -- tailgate party -- you can see me through the 350's rear hatch.

tere how satisfied are you with the kinetix ssv? ive heard mixed reviews. If you're running higher boost levels, either the SSV or Cosworth is the only way to go in my book. The SSV is a little prettier and a little less expensive.
Basically, if you're pushing high boost, you want the most uniform air volume across all cylinders that you can get. The only way you can tune to get max performance out of each cylinder. So I can tune to a more efficient 11.5:1 A/F while a less uniform air volume might have to tune to 11:1 (richer to accommodate the cylinder(s) tending to run lean -- like 5 and 6).
On the SSV, I don't recommend using the cork gaskets that come with it, particularly with higher boost levels. I use Motordyne gaskets.
Here's a link to the Cosworth if you've never seen it. http://www.intensepower.com/coinmavq03.html
Tere--are you planning anything for the 07 convertible? Or is she staying stock as you turn your attention to your soon to have GT-R?Down the road I'll probably get the overwhelming urge to take the '07 to twin turbos, but she's not at the top of the mod list. I've still got some mods in store for the '03.
Here's a test fit of my current off and on project, which is getting far too elaborate with carbon fiber (not shown). I'm in the prep and prime stage... It will look significantly different once all the carbon fiber and mesh work is done, so what you're seeing is the diamond in the rough. There's also side skirts and a backend to go with it. This front end is pure show. When I go to the track the stock front end will go on.

Mmmmmm, mmmmmm, good... carbon fiber -- a whole big roll of it! LOL... :)
http://tere.net/t-z/cf1.jpg
Side skirt test fit... I ran into a wee bit of an issue -- ground clearance. I might have to raise the front end back up and little. The 1.75" clearance is a bit tight for navigating a speed bump.

I've run both the Crawford modified (still on my garage parts shelf) and the Crawford cast (sold). While good, it's basically a modified stock and still has some of the original flow issues going on. The N/A folks expected the SSV or Cosworth to give them some kind of miraculous gain -- sorry, nope, you've got to tune the car to get the HP. As you've observed, the real advantage is in a tunable F/I application.
Tere--what kit is it that you are working on?The body kit is relatively rare in the US. It's a euro spec (rear license plate area is euro) that I imported directly from the manufacturer (wholesale price). The front end is called Venom and the back end is called Havoc. The side skirts are the same for both Venom and Havoc kits. It's made in Portugal by Ibherdesign. Gina's "Black Widow" was the first Z in the US to have the full Havoc widebody kit -- she's in Florida and her Z is pretty well known in South-east show circles. You can see the entire evolution of her Z to its present state on the link below -- pretty interesting.

my buddy jason is next on sharifs list for the cosworth. cant wait to see what the improvements are.
ginas car is pretty sick too. a lot of work went into it.
Gina is also a complete Z freak. In addition to "Black Widow" she has a Brickyard 350 and a 300ZX drop top. The "Black Widow" is also F/I. Her husband drives a white 350.
Here's a better idea of the Venom front end... See how inside the intake openings, they've got it painted black? Imagine the black as carbon fiber. Now you know what I'm doing with the big roll of carbon fiber. :)

Here's what the Havoc backend looks like -- mine isn't the widebody kit. This is actually Gina's 350 before she had the kit molded and repainted to midnight blue. I also had to buy a euro spec rear license plate light bracket (US spec lights fit in it).

I was wondering if it was the kit that Gina has. The front bumper looked familar.
I have met Gina and her husband...they are Z fanatics. They do almost all the work (except body from what I can remember) on their cars.
Gina and her husband indeed do quite a bit of the work on their Zs. They installed the turbo in the "Black Widow" in one weekend. Gina is a Z Chick for sure.
I won't be shooting the final paint -- that will be done by a pro. I'm just doing the prep and prime, along with the carbon fiber work.
There's also a Veilside Version 2 spoiler in the mix -- I filled the dots on the side as well as the VS logo indentation.

I haven't washed my car in a few months. I just quickly wipe it down if it gets rained on & apply Mequiers Ultra quick Detailer after any major driving. This stuff is nice. Keeps water beading & gives it that just polished look.

Hey NJZGUY. The engine dress up kit and the Air guide 2 came from 350zsource.com The engine cover is a replacement and the bat/fluid covers are overlays. Does your sub enclosure completely extend and closes off the area up behind the rear strut bar to the back seats? I was considering a similar sub configuration, but then I'd probably lose the additional storage space...
Are you any closer to getting your black and orange Axis Hiro's, by the way?

NJZGuy--not sure about Shylynn's box, but we have a single 10" sub box that fit under the strut bar in our previous Z that is the width of the strut bar. We still had the space between the strut bar and the rear panel to put things like those fold up chairs and such. We still have the box (it is painted LeMans Sunset) and have had it up for sale.

Carbon;
On your undercarriage neon and audio system, when you have them activated at a car show, how long does your battery last--or do you have a separate battery and auxiliary switch to activate everything without it impacting on the battery that runs the car?
I was curious as to how I could display movies, play music etc. on my new Alpine unit at car shows, and undercarriage neon for extended periods of time without killing the battery. Some of the more heavily modified cars I saw at the Funkmaster Flex show in Edison with dozens of LCD displays running different movies on each display and loads of neon, had what looked like a custom-painted battery charger to match their cars that I assume was used to power all of that stuff.
I don't want to go that route, though--I just want to keep things single with the Alpine IVA-W505 and a Street Glow kit for car shows. I figure at the most I'll have to upgrade the stock battery to something like an Optima red or yellow. So what do you think?
Anyone else with some experience in this area also please feel free to jump in...

We use a separate battery and have an inverter in our car so that we can plug the car into a wall outlet to run everything.

We use a separate battery and have an inverter in our car so that we can plug the car into a wall outlet to run everything.
Is the separate battery inside or outside the car? If it's outside is it a regular sized battery or a smaller battery that you can hide out of sight under the car?
carbonz
09-02-2008, 11:02 PM
If your using one underbody kit, a few other assorted led's, and a small audio video system at low volume, the first hour should be ok. The second hour is where you need to monitor your voltage. At indoor venues, a 110 to 12 volt power inverter (not a charger) is a must. The reason is most indoor events ask that you unhook the battery. This would be the point where I would add up the amount of power your total system uses and next price your power supply.

Your car looks fantastic! About the plate, can you not put it in the lower right hand corner behind your windshield?

Or you could have gotten a ZeeBracket to go into the tow hook...

Thanks Moto. I suppose I could try that, but with my luck I'll get a hard ***** that'll give me a ticket for not having it mounted 18 inches from the ground, etc. etc. etc... I should have taken it off for these pictures, but I was running late for a Z meet and was extremely lazy that morning!!
Or you could have gotten a ZeeBracket to go into the tow hook...
Yeah, I was looking at the Zee Bracket and Stillen bracket, and cheaped out with the Zee bracket. I underestimated my need to remove the plate with as little effort as possible.

Welp - I'm only using the rear - SPC but my alignment guy said: you'll need the front adjustable A arm sooner or later :flame:
He said the front is running at about 80% right now with little inside wear.
Gawd - I'm looking to purchase a set of good shocks plus front adjustable A arms

I have the 275's but those seem to look A LOT wider than mine. Maybe just the angle of the pic.
