Break Pads - Hawk vs Green stuff

any opinions on which is better. I understand that both reduce dust quite a bit, which is what I am mostly interested in. Any difference in how much. Also, is there any difference in the breaking power ?

i hope you don't get them mixed up

the Hawk HPS are the street pads that don't dust much at all

the Hawk HP+ are the race pads that dust like stock, but have better characteristics for racing.

I have the green stuff pads. They put out about 90% less dust, so it was a great improvement. Comparison on the two: I've heard the Hawk pads squeal a bit, but I don't have any actual experience with that. The green stuff pads don't squeal if they're broke in properly.

The green stuff is better for gusting over the Hawks but the hawks are a better compund for braking power

Hi Jesse,

You said broke in properly. Could you elaborate. Also, is there some coating you are supposed to use on them before installing ? i think I read about this on another thread.

I just put on the Hawk HPS and at first they didn't squeal but now they do just at initial contact and with a very light pedal pressure. I wonder if feathering the forwards edges a little would stop it.

The Hawk HPS pads are great--and I've had no squealing that I have heard so far.....I don't know about the greenstuff, but I am sure anything is better than that dust!!! Just make sure that the pads are seated properly, as the rotors are free-floating.
