Problems On Recent Trip Service Engine Light And Brakes
On a recent trip I found the Service engine light came on. I went to the local dealer Desert Nissan in Las Vegas and was told that the code read out P1754 stated that the transmission needed to be replaced, they called the fix-it line and was told that they were not to replace the transmission but to download a patch to the onboard computer and was given a number FI #609491 when i returned to my dealer they have not been able to find this FI number and have not been able to download any patch they are still looking for this. On the same trip my right front disk brake locked up solid and stayed that way for 15 minutes then unlocked I then went to another local dealer in St George Ut and they took brake apart and cleaned, lubed and turned rotors, this fix the problem until i got back home and the brakes as draging and making a terrible noise when stopping. I have an appointment on 12/03/03 to have it looked at. Has anyone else had any of this trouble the serviced engine light came on at 3,000 miles exactly and the brakes started at 6,990.

1. I bought my car at Desert Nissan in Vegas. They're horrible, so it's no surprise that nothing was done.
2. I suggest Nissan of Fife for your service needs. They're great, and I'd go there every time if I lived in the south end.
3. If Nissan of Fife can't help, Campbell-Nelson Nissan in Lynnwood will do as good or better than Fife.
Either way, sounds like you just needed to get home, and get everything checked out. Let us know how it goes.

Auburn Nissan is also pretty good. I bought my car there, and have all my service items done there. They're not bad, and they're convenient because it's only 5 mins from the house (I live in Kent).
Not that it makes you feel good, but I think that's the worst set of problems I've heard of yet, and I just got my brand new set of front tires this morning from the tire feathering thing.
Good luck, and hope to see you at a zccw meet sometime in the future!

ZCCW (Z Car Club of Washington).
Not much goes on besides gawking at everyones cars in the winter time. In the summer, there is a 'drive' once a month to various and sundry areas around the sound. More info at http://www.zccw.org
The picture in my avatar was taken when a group of about 13 of us drove up Mt. Rainier in July or so.
